Welcome to Kuopio Housing Fair 2010
Every summer 150,000 Finns head for the annual housing fair to see the latest trends in home construction, furnishing and design. Housing fairs are a delightful experience for the whole family, and they help to continuously improve the national standard of housing and quality of life. Housing fairs have been arranged in various parts of Finland for the past 40 years.

The Housing Fair itself will be located in the suburb of Saaristokaupunki, the “Town of Islands”, a park-like diversified residential area which is being created on the islands and headlands of Lake Kallavesi.
Several projects to improve the quality of life and residential well-being in Kuopio are under way in connection with the Kuopio Housing Fair. The main themes of the Fair express some of the key aspects of continuously improving housing which are highlighted in the Fair as a whole:
• Quality of life – a house of your dreams in a lakeside setting
• Low-energy housing – environmentally friendly housing with low running costs
• A garden of one’s own – for the family to enjoy an active life together
Housing research is one of the specialities of the University of Eastern Finland, located in Kuopio. Finland’s only professor of housing is a member of the faculty.
The Housing Fair is an annual event that presents the most up-to-date trends in housing and interior decorating.
