Casa Humana  logo.jpgThe Finnish Housing Fair Co-operative Organisation annually awards scholarships and awards of merit for significant achievements in improving the quality of people’s living standards through the medium of housing. The Housing Fair Co-operative Organisation’s grants

have been awarded since 1981, when the first Housing Fair fund was established.

 

Since 2002, the grants have been awarded under the name of Casa Humana. The grants and awards have, among others, supported research into the child’s status in housing, healthy housing solutions and ecological housing.

 

The Casa Humana awards aim to further applicable studies and pilot projects in the field of housing, as well as supporting training, information and publishing activities.

    Prize: Finland's Detatched House Association
    Awarded for the promotion of village caretaker activities
    Grant: Social Development Ltd
    For its Listening House Project
    Grant: architect Özlem Özer-Kemppainen
  • In the year 2004
    Prize: architect Esko Kahri for his long-term achievements and groundbreaking career in design and teaching
    Grant: architect Harri Hagan for his work in the development of ageing housing suburbs
  • In the year 2003
    Prize: Paavo Viirkorpi Master of Political Science for his extensive research work into "housing as a part of community development whilst taking into consideration the view point of inhabitants and the demands of daily life"
    Business award: Lappset Group Ltd for its long-term work in the development of children's playgrounds and safe playground equipment production
    Grant: Mari Randell, Administrative Science's Licentiate for her research into the child's status as regards district planning and housing
  • In the year 2002
    Prize: The Pro Sunila Association, for its efforts to preserve the Alvar Aalto's Sunila area and the renovation and preservation of the area's ageing apartment blocks
    Prize: Journalist, Marja Salmela for her impressive work as a catalyst in provoking discussion into housing policies
    Honourable Mention: architect Olli Lehtovuori for his lifetime's work for the good of low rise building forms in housing culture
    Honourable Mention: Heikki Laaksonen Kotka city's horticulturist for his long standing work for the benefit of the city's green spaces
